The X-38 is seen here just before being shipped from Scaled Composites, Inc., Mojave, California, to NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, in August 1996. The X-38 was sent to Johnson for installation of avionics, computer systems and other hardware in preparation for flight tests at the Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, California. It is seen here hoisted by a crane at Scaled Composites’ Mojave facility.
